If you've been following us on Instagram, you know that we started off our summer travels hopping around the Greek isles, starting with Mykonos, and we absolutely loved it! The island of Mykonos is small, but there is so much to do and so many cute streets to explore. You can easily explore the entire island in a day, but we spent three days there and felt like it was the perfect amount of time. From the unique beaches to the delicious gyros, Mykonos has it all.

We rented an ATV to drive around the whole island, and we would highly recommend doing that. It's pretty cheap, and definitely the easiest way to get around and to visit all the different beaches. Taxis on the island are quite expensive and overpriced, so we would suggest doing everything you can to avoid them. We loved being able to feel the humid wind through our hair and see the island without being blocked by windows or car doors. Riding a quad around was definitely part of the island life experience for us.

The main town of Mykonos is full of windy streets and kind of like a giant maze. I honestly couldn't ever figure out where we were, but that was part of what made it so fun. It's easy to just get lost and explore all the iconic blue and white streets and pop in and out of all the shops. Mykonos has some of the best shopping in Greece, and I still kind of regret not filling my suitcase with more dresses and jewelry. Oh well, guess we'll have to go back, haha. We loved walking around the Paraportiani Church, Little Venice, and the windmills. We watched the sunset from behind the windmills every night and loved it! They aren't kidding when they say the sunsets in Greece are unlike anywhere else! We also drove out to the Armenistis Lighthouse on the high edge of the island, and it was one of our favorite places to just walk around and view the water crashing against the cliff edge.

For some of the best gyros and soulvaki on the island go to Saki's Grill House or Souvlaki Story or if you're looking for a healthier option, try Bowl

One of our favorite beaches were Agios Sostis Beach and Panormos Beach, which have beautiful crystal clear waters and is perfect for laying on the beach and soaking up the sun or playing in the sea. Agios Sostis is also right next to Kiki's Tavern, which is one of the most popular restaurants on the island. You can also go to Paradise Beach, which is a very popular party beach that supposedly gets really crowded in the summer. Mykonos is known as a party island, but it's also easy to escape the parties and still enjoy all the quiet beauty the island has to offer! Honestly, one of our favorite things we did was just driving around and getting lost until we ended up at a secluded beach cove.

It doesn't matter what you do in Mykonos, you'll absolutely love it. And make sure you get the frozen greek yogurt, because it's actually delicious. Of all the places we've been, I think it's safe to say, we were completely blown away by Greece. We loved it so much we're already planning our trip back.
