The Best Beach in Turks & Caicos.
While most people talk about Grace Bay, the beach on Pine Cay is the one you should visit while you're in Turks and Caicos. Don't get us wrong, Grace Bay is beautiful! But Pine Cay is the perfect mix of remote and comfortable, while giving you the best Turks and Caicos has to offer. Pine Cay is a private island with one hotel, The Meridian Club, and 37 private homes. From the white sand beaches to the ethereal turquoise water, here are 10 reasons why Pine Cay is the best beach in Turks and Caicos.
It's a private island.
Pine Cay is an 800-acre private island in Turks and Caicos with 2-miles of perfectly beautiful white sand beaches. Since it's private, the island is peacefully quiet, and all you hear is the sounds of the ocean waves meeting the white sand. The island provides a sense of relaxation you won't find anywhere else. It's seriously the perfect place to escape reality and find peace. It's only a 15 minute boat ride from the main island of Providenciales (Provo), but you'll wish it was longer as you stare at the crystal clear water and The Meridian Club staff serves you a cold drink or two.
It's described as "barefoot luxury."
The Meridian Club prides itself on being "barefoot luxury." And honestly, nothing sounds better to us. Anywhere where we don't ever have to put our shoes on is the perfect destination. You can walk straight from your room to the beach and then to dinner without ever having to put your shoes on. No questions asked.
It has it's own natural aquarium.
Have you ever gone to an aquarium and wanted to jump in with the fish?! Well, Pine Cay has its very own natural aquarium that is full of the most beautiful sea creatures, including sea turtles and star fish! It is a lagoon on the south side of the island with a varying bottom of sand, rocks, and vegetation. Grab a kayak and some snorkel gear and see what you can find. You'll probably find a few iguanas roaming around as well.
You can walk directly from your room to the beach.
This is something you cannot get from most hotels on Grace Bay. At The Meridian Club, you can slide your glass door open, take two steps past your outdoor shower, and feel the soft Pine Cay sand in between your toes. Only a few more steps and you've reached an umbrella with a pair of chairs waiting just for you. So you can roll out of bed and into the ocean, which is basically our dream come true.
All the meals and boat transfers are included.
Part of what makes The Meridian Club so affordable is that all the meals are included in the price of your stay. Sara, the hotel's executive chef, ensures the food is seriously incredible! They'll even cater to your dietary needs, which we love, because it's hard for us to find good gluten-free and dairy-free food while traveling. Boat transfers to and from the main island of Provo are also included in your stay. Food and transportation can take an affordable trip and make it break the bank, so having all of this included is part of what makes The Meridian Club so enjoyable.
It has a "drive-in" movie theater.
The best part of The Meridian Club is that it has so many things that you can only do on Pine Cay. On Wednesday nights, they play movies like Gilligan's Island at their Sand Dollar Cinema. The best part? It's a "drive-in" movie, and you get to watch it from your own little golf cart with popcorn and all. How fun is that?
Part of the beauty of Turks and Caicos, and especially Pine Cay, is that the islands are impeccably clean. A lot of that has to do with the respect the workers and the visitors have for the island. The Meridian Club takes sustainability very seriously and does everything they can to keep the island green. For example, they install efficient light bulbs in the hotel, and they have four-stroke engines in their boats, which are cleaner than alternatives. In 2012, Pine Cay created a reef ball system that helps preserve the delicate ecosystem and allows for a beautiful snorkeling location. And to help guests contribute, they provide you with reusable bags and water containers.
The rooms do have wifi, but they do not have phones or televisions. It is also requested that guests limit phone use to their rooms, so that all may enjoy the true peace and quiet. So leave the world behind, visit the spa for a Bali massage and scrub, and forget all your worries while enjoying this perfect private island.
It has the bluest water.
The water, the water, the water. Seriously, the only other place we've ever seen water this blue is Bora Bora. The water is the perfect hue of turquoise all over the islands, but in Pine Cay we swear it is even more blue. And the best part is that there are so many ways for you to experience it.
Walk across Devil's Bridge.
Go kayaking, paddle boarding, or sailing.
Hop in a golf cart and explore the island.
Snorkel near the reef balls or at the aquarium.
Set up a tour and take a boat ride to a different island.
You can snorkel every day!
Turks and Caicos is surrounded by the world's third largest coral reef (behind the Great Barrier Reef and the Belize Barrier Reef), so you can't not go snorkeling while you're there. Take advantage of the island's remote beach and snorkeling location with reef balls that were put in to help protect the ecosystem. The reef balls help the water stay calm so you can see the starfish, sand dollars, and all the other fish in the sea. And if you're lucky, you'll even get to see JoJo the dolphin! Be sure to ask "Bang Bang" at The Meridian Club about the many tales of JoJo, including a story about JoJo's best friend the dog.
The whole island of Pine Cay is nearly silent and so relaxing. If you're looking for the perfect getaway where you can lay in the sun, snorkel with sea turtles, and sail through crystal clear waters, then The Meridian Club is definitely the place to go. Everything about Pine Cay and Turks and Caicos is absolutely stunning! And if you're anything like we are, you'll never want to leave!
