One of the hardest things for us while we travel is dealing with hanger (hunger + anger). Honestly, pretty much everything is fine between the two of us when we’re traveling until one of us gets hungry, haha. Then it’s like we must have food and we must have food now or we are going to die. Okay, sure that’s a little dramatic, but that’s definitely how it feels haha. Plus, having snacks on hand will save you money, because you won’t have to buy something gross just so you can eat.

Whether we’re dealing with not-so-great airplane food or running around exploring without having time to stop for a meal, we’ve found that the one thing we never want to be without is snacks. Here are 10 of our favorite snacks that we always make sure to pack with us before we travel.

Dried Mangos: We love dried fruit! Dried Mangos are the perfect snack for the plane, train, car, or basically anywhere when you’re on the go. No matter how many times we try, the apple, banana, or mango we try to bring with us always ends up getting smashed going through security, so dried fruit is our fail-proof snack. Try these dried bananas or dried apples as well.

Granola Bars: We don’t leave for a trip without packing at least one granola bar per day for each of us. Yes, it takes up a lot of room in our bag, but it’s a win win, because then we have space to bring something back from our trip and we never go hungry. There always seems to be a time when we’re either on a hike or traveling from one city to the next where it’s not easy to get food and our granola bar saves the day. We love Rx Bars, Larabars, and Kind Bars

Simple Mills Crackers: We love Simple Mills Almond Flour Crackers, because they’re gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and paleo crackers. So not only are they super healthy, but they will also keep your energy levels high, which is a must when you have a whole new city to see!

Stasher bags: Okay, this one is not really a snack, but Stasher Bags are seriously the best snack bags. Not only are they good for the environment, but they’re reusable, so you can use them over and over again during your trip, and you won’t have to worry about having to find another plastic bag every time you want to bring a snack with you for the day.

Peanut Butter Packets: I can hardly go a day without peanut butter. These little packets are perfect to pair with a piece of fruit while you’re out exploring. Also peanut butter is basically impossible to find outside of the United States (or it’s like $15), so you’ll appreciate having these little packets with you. Just don’t pack peanut butter in your carry-on, because security will confiscate it, and you will cry. Or maybe that was just me?

Baby food: Okay, I know this one might sound a little weird, but hear me out. How many times have you gone on a trip only to get home and realize you don’t remember the last time you ate a vegetable? These baby food packets are honestly pretty good and full of nutrients that will keep you active and energized throughout the day. So whether or not you’re traveling with kids, bring a few of these along.

Vital Proteins Collagen PeptidesVital Proteins packets are basically guaranteed to keep you healthy. Collagen keeps your skin, hair, nails, and joints healthy and strong. So not only will you have a little extra beauty glow, but you’ll also run and jump and move easier too. It has no flavor, so just stir it in your morning juice, blend it in your smoothie, or shake it into your afternoon tea.

Yogi Tea Packets: Speaking of tea, nothing keeps us healthy quite like tea. We love lemon-ginger for its digestive and stomach soothing benefits and honey lavender for its soothing and calming effects. And lets be honest, no matter how much of a travel expert you are, traveling is stressful, so it’s so nice to end the day with a relaxing and calming herbal tea.

Justin’s Peanut Butter Cups: We are all about treats made with real ingredients, which is part of why we love Justin’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups so much. I believe everyone deserves at least one treat a day and mine always includes chocolate.

Nuts: We love bringing cashews, almonds, and pistachios with us, because they’re full of healthy fats that keep us satiated during long travel days. Nuts are also perfect to mix together with your dried fruit and chocolate to create your own trail mix.

Pirate’s Booty: I don’t know how I just barely joined in on this obsession, but Pirate’s Booty Aged White Cheddar is seriously SO good. Put these in your Stasher Bag, and you’re good to go!
