Sintra, Portugal

You know that dream of visiting a magical fairytale land? Well, that fairytale land is Sintra. Sintra is full of unique castles with views overlooking the rolling green hills of Portugal, ivy covered walls, ponds full of swans, and enchanting forests. Be sure to visit Pena Palace, the most colorful castle possibly ever, and Quinta da Regaleira, which is full of secret passageways and fairytale-like spiral staircases. Check out our Ultimate Guide to Portugal and be sure to eat extra Pastéis de Belêm for us!

Lake Como, Italy

What is more beautiful than a lake sitting in the middle of the Italian Alps? It used to be known as a playground only for the rich, but Como has recently become more accessible to all travelers. The first time I saw Lake Como I was on a train from Lucerne, Switzerland to Milan, Italy and thought we had entered another world. Transport yourselves to the most relaxing and beautiful summer vacation of your lives by renting a villa, eating on a dock, riding the funicular for an incredible view, and playing in the water.

London, England

London is such a fun city full of colorful houses and beautiful sites. Whether you take a walk along the Thames, ride the London Eye, or each brunch in Notting Hill, you’ll definitely swoon over all the charming places in the city. If there is one place you don’t want to miss in London, it is the Gallery Room at Sketch. It is a chic and perfectly pink afternoon tea experience with unlimited tea, finger sandwiches, cakes, scones, and other treats. Plus, everything about London makes you feel like royalty, and what better way to spend your vacation than feeling like a prince and princess? Here are 25 Things to do in London.

Lake Bled, Slovenia

There is something so smooth and calming about lakes that make us feel so relaxed and peaceful, which is exactly how you should feel during your summer getaway. Lake Bled is a gorgeous lake in the mountains of Slovenia. It is much more developed in terms of tourism than Lake Como, but it is equally as gorgeous. Avoid the tourist traps and rent bikes to ride around the lake, to the nearby countryside, and to see the turquoise waters of Vintgar Gorge.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen is one of our favorite cities in Europe! It’s so charming and full of colorful buildings, beautiful gardens, and stunning castles. The small size of the city makes it perfect to explore by bike. Ride through the colorful streets, along the sea toward the Little Mermaid statue, or to eat brunch at Kalaset. Then take a boat tour from the iconic Nyhavn. And don’t miss a day riding roller coasters and playing at Tivoli Gardens, which is the second oldest operating amusement park in the world!

Prague, Czech Republic

Prague, also known as “the city of one hundred spires,” is full of history, culture, and bohemian charm. Spend your days wandering through Old Town Square and Prague Castle. Soak in all the best views of the city while walking across Charles Bridge or from the top of Old Town Bridge Tower. Be sure to watch the astrological clock strike at the top of the hour. Prague is an art history afficionado’s dream with all of it’s Renaissance architecture, baroque-style churches, and world-renowned museums.

Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland is absolutely stunning in a wild and mystical sort of way. Giant’s Causeway is full of incredible views of cliffs meeting the ocean, unbelievable natural rock formations, and the most beautiful rolling green hills. Walk along the black rocks of Giant’s Causeway and listen to the seagulls, watch the waves, and wish for some of the Irish luck Northern Ireland has to offer. If you’re not convinced yet, here are 21 pictures to inspire you to visit Ireland

Split, Croatia

Split is the perfect place for a classic European summer getaway. Between the crystal clear turquoise waters to the red roofed buildings, you won’t ever want to put down your camera (except to jump in the water, of course). Consider taking a sailing cruise along the Dalmation Coast or take a day tour to Plitvice Lakes National Park.

Mykonos, Greece

Mykonos is the perfect place to visit this summer if you want a mix of picture-perfect European towns and relaxing beaches. Wander through the tiny streets of town for some of the best shopping, most delicious gyros, and iconic cute streets. Be sure to get some frozen greek yogurt to cool off and also, because why not? Mykonos also has quite the party scene, so be sure to visit Paradise Beach if you’re looking for a late-night party. Make sure to rent an ATV, so you can easily explore the entire island and visit all the different beaches.

amsterdam

Amsterdam, Netherlands

If you hop on a plane right now, you might be able to make it in time to run through the famous tulips of Holland. But if not, you can still spend your time walking around the adorable streets along the iconic canals of Amsterdam and going to the only floating flower market in the world. Be sure to eat lots of stroop waffels, Dutch pancakes, and frites along the way. Check out our guide of What to Do in Amsterdam

Whether you’re looking for a beach getaway or just to explore the cute little towns, Europe has it all. Don’t limit yourself to just one destination either. You can easily take a train or cheap flight between cities and make sure you get the most out of your summer vacation.
