If you don’t visit any other Greek Island, make sure you go to this one.
We can NOT say enough good things about Milos island. Honestly, it’s one of those places that we loved so much, we almost don’t want to share it with anyone, but also, it’s SO amazing that it feels like we have to.
Milos is probably our favorite island on earth. We were there during low season, so it felt like we had all of the incredibly stunning natural beauty to enjoy all to ourselves. It was seriously a slice of heaven on earth. I’m pretty sure if we could’ve stayed forever, we would have. We actually tried to come up with ways to stay there forever. Or at least move there and live there forever. It’s actually still on the table, haha.
Honestly, Milos doesn’t have much. There aren’t a lot of restaurants or tourist activities, but that’s part of what makes the island so magical! You can easily entertain yourself for hours, because it’s like a giant natural playground.
We rented ATV’s and drove around the entire island. We seriously had almost every beach to ourselves, and it felt like heaven. Have I already said that? There are countless caves to swim through and cliffs to jump off of and plenty of perfect blue sea water to float in.
Our favorite beaches in Milos were Sarakiniko Beach, which was created by white volcanic ash, giving it the most unique moonscape, and Papafragas Canyon, which is basically this stunning canyon that you can swim all the way through. The water in Milos is the most incredible shade of blue. It’s like the perfect mix of deep sea blue with bright light slushie colored blue (sorry, that’s the only thing I can think of to compare it to, haha).
On the other side of the island, the best beaches are Tsigrado, Fryiplaka, Provatas, and Paleochori. Be careful going to Tsigrado, because in order to get there, you have to go down a steep cliff that takes you to an old wooden ladder in the middle of two giant rocks. It’s honestly kind of scary, but it’s so worth it when you get down there. We had the entire beach to ourselves, and it was so serene and peaceful! Fyriplaka, Provatas, and Paleochori are pretty close to Tsigrado, but much easier to get to, which also makes them a bit more popular.
It was too windy when we were there to go on a boat tour, but if the weather’s right, make sure to take a boat tour to the beautiful grottos (and old pirate’s hideout) of Kleftiko.
We also loved watching the sunset from the little neighborhood of Plaka and eating dinner in the port city, Adamas.
If you’re heading to Greece soon, be sure to book a ferry to Milos! You will not regret it. And if you’re looking for a place to stay, Salt Milos is truly the absolute best!

Ummmmmmmm yeah I need to go here!!!
Haha you should DEFINITELY add it to your list!!
I was in Greece for the first time this summer and was stunned by how beautiful it was! I didn’t make it to Milos but I’ll add it to my list for next time. Thanks for sharing these beautiful images.
We felt the exact same way!! We’d seen countless pictures before going, but nothing can really prepare you for how stunning it is in person! It’s literally breathtaking. There are so many islands, it’s hard to make it to all of them, but definitely try to go next time you’re there! You won’t regret it!
How beautiful! I’ve never heard of Milos before, it really does look like heaven. Definitely putting this place on my bucket list
Yes! It should definitely be on your bucket list! We hadn’t heard of it until recently either, but it exceeded all of our expectations, and we will definitely be going back!!
That water is lovely
It’s truly some of the most beautiful water we’ve ever seen! There are so many different shades of blue at all the different beaches too! It felt like a dream!
really beautiful pictures… So relaxing to see that…
Thank you so much!! So glad you enjoyed them!
Guys, I’ve fallen completely in love with your blog and photography style! What camera & lens equipment do you guys use? I know you’re professional photographers, really interested in the kit that you choose to travel with! M x
Thank you so much!! You’re so sweet! That means so much to us! Thank you! We use a Canon 6D and a 35mm lens. It’s a little bulky to travel with, but we love the quality we get, so it’s worth it to us. Thanks again!
You’re so welcome! I’ve been collaborating using a friend’s 6D on recent travels with a wide angle. It may be bulky but the quality of a full frame camera is staggering! Looking forward to your 2018 adventures.

AMAZING! We are heading there this spring, can’t wait to see this beautiful island! Thanks for the inspiration and tips 🙂
headed to Greece in October to work in a refugee camp for a couple weeks and was looking for a way to unwind before returning to the states at the end of our work commitments. the serenity of milos might be what works for our group, thanks for your suggestion!
No way! That sounds like an amazing opportunity! Milos would be the perfect place to unwind! Hope you have an amazing trip!
I’ve been to Mykonos, Paros & Santorini with Santorini being my FAVE. I’ll have to go to Milos to see if it tops the sunsets on Santorini! Beautiful photographs!
Thank you so much! Santorini is amazing too! I don’t think anything tops the sunsets in Santorini, but the landscape in Milos is unlike anything else!
When is the best time of the year to visit this place? I am planning a trip there next year
We’ve been the beginning of May the last two years, and it’s been amazing! It’s low season, so we felt like we had the island to ourselves. The water is kind of cold that time of year though, so maybe September would be a good time to go for warmer water but still a slower season.
We just arrived back from Milos, and this is so blog is spot on! We visited 4 islands and Milos was our favorite! Even in July, Milos was not overcrowded, many of the beaches, we were by ourselves and it was awesome! The only thing bad about it was our next stop was Santorini, and we felt like we were in a tourist trap after Milos, which made it harder to enjoy the true beauty of Santorini! I would highly recommend that this should be a definite stop on your Greece adventure!
Ah this is amazing to hear! We’re so glad you loved Milos and had the best time there! We totally feel the same way about it!
We were just there last month, in early-mid June. We started in Athens, went to Paros, then Santorini and finally Milos. We spent 3 days on each, but finished in Milos for 5 glorious days. Total of 2.5 weeks. The timing was perfect as schools in Greece and much of Europe run through mid June, so summer tourism hadn’t really even started. We stayed in Pollonia which was very quiet and we loved the Milos Breeze resort. It was the perfect ending as the cruise ships were stopping in Santorini daily and it was super crowded, so Milos was definitely the best place to end our vacation. Fabulous restaurants and shopping, highly recommend renting a car/ATV to get to all the beaches. Our highlight was a day on the sailboat “Oneiro, with captain Elias. Don’t miss this excursion, as we visited all the beaches that were not accessible by a car. While we don’t typically repeat islands when we go to Greece, Milos is a place we will go back to, it is that special!!!

I’m so glad you loved our island! Amazing blog and stunning pictures
Thank you so much! You’re so sweet!
Seeing your beautiful pictures is what had us heading for Milos on a multi island tour of Greece!!! We stopped be Sarakinkio beach first and loved the cliff diving! To get your pictures there did you have to walk far from the parking area?
Ah that’s amazing! That makes us so happy to hear! Milos is unreal! We did spend a lot of time exploring Sarakiniko, so some of those photos are taken by walking all over, but you don’t have to walk too far to get to some amazing view points!
What time of the year did you go to Milos? The photos are amazing!
For this post it was May. But we’ve also been in September and it’s similar!
