The Best Luxury Resort in Crete.

After island hopping around Mykonos, Santorini, and Milos, we made our way down to the island of Crete and spent a few days relaxing at St. Nicolas Bay Resort Hotel & Villas. It was absolutely fabulous! We honestly cannot say enough good things about our experience there. St. Nicolas Bay is the perfect place to go for a getaway, even just for a weekend getaway if you live in Europe, and a wonderful location for a relaxing and beautiful vacation for everyone. 

St. Nicolas Bay Resort is a luxurious lifestyle hotel located on a private beach cove just a mile from the summer beach town of Aghios Nikolaos, which is full of adorable shops, picture perfect Greek fishing boats, and sea front restaurants. 

From the peaceful spa to the absolutely delicious Greek cuisine and the stunning infinity pool, St. Nicolas Bay has it all! It is seriously one of the best resorts we’ve ever been to! We especially loved how we were treated the whole time we were there. The staff was very friendly and treated us like we were all part of one big Greek family. It felt like a home away from home, and we never wanted to leave! 

The pool and beach area are absolutely incredible! And there is plenty of area for everyone to feel like they are relaxing in their own little slice of paradise. There is also a water sports center that offers jet skiing, water skiing, wind surfing, and scuba diving for those who want to actually spend some time in the water and not just lying by the water, haha. 

We loved that there was both a spacious pool area and a peaceful beach area, so we could enjoy both the stunning clear blue ocean and the refreshing pool water. Because as much as we love the ocean, sometimes it’s just as much fun to play in the pool. We ended up spending most of our time by the pool, because the ocean was a bit chilly (since it was only May). However, both the pool and the beach have incredible views of the sea, and we loved the rocky Meditterranean Sea vibes.

Each of the rooms has its own private terrace or balcony giving you endless sea views. And waking up to the sea is honestly the best kind of view to wake up to. The resort has 107 rooms, six private villas, and 30 private pools, so there is a room for everyone. Whether you’re on your honeymoon, an intimate getaway, or a family vacation, St. Nicolas Bay has a uniquely designed room just for you.

One of our favorite parts of St. Nicolas Bay was the food! They have an incredible array of fruits, classic Greek cuisine, and treats. I wish we could’ve eaten breakfast there forever, because there was so much delicious fresh fruit and the crepes were to die for. Breakfast is served on a beautiful terrace overlooking the pool and bay, so you can enjoy your morning with the sea breeze and warm sun shining on you, which is personally how I believe you should eat breakfast every morning, haha.  We ate dinner at the Greek Kafenion, which serves traditional Cretan cuisine, and has been named the best restaurant in Greece for organic food, and it was absolutely delicious. We felt like our servers were going to need to roll us back to our room, because we ate so much, but it was so worth it. 

Crete is known for it’s olive tree farms, and the olive oil here was definitely one of a kind! They even sent us home with our own bottle as a gift! 

Another one of our favorite parts about St. Nicolas Bay was the Poseidon Spa. We both got the Deep Tissue Body Massage, which was incredibly relaxing and extremely therapeutic. It was just what our bodies needed after a lot of traveling. The therapists are highly trained, and they use only the very high quality oils to treat both your body and your mind. It definitely helped us rejuvenate and reset for our upcoming travels. The Spa also includes a fitness center, so you can easily get in your morning workout before spending the day relaxing in the sun.

We loved how St. Nicolas Bay Resort had absolutely everything we needed to relax and unwind right there. There’s a kids area, an art gallery, and a little boutique shop all within the resort, so you don’t even have to leave the resort if you don’t want to. And with the crystal clear waters of the sea, there’s not much reason to. We will definitely be planning a trip back to St. Nicolas Bay Resort!

The only downside is that we weren’t able to stay forever! We would highly recommended staying at St. Nicolas Bay, especially for a week long summer getaway where you can also explore the beautiful and historic island of Crete!
