The Emerald City has more to be known for than its rainy overcast weather and its sleepless nights (wink wink). Seattle is quite the foodie scene offering more and more rooftop bars and Ethan Stowell restaurants every year. While there are plentiful upscale dining options, you may only have time to grab something quick while touring Pike’s Place and the surrounding nature.

From a Seattle local, these are the top five most recommended quick and casual restaurants to stop at that will leave your palette satisfied, your belly full, and more time in your day to cross off everything else on your Seattle bucket list when visiting from out of town.

Un Bien

Located on the way to Golden Gardens waterfront beach park, this colorful shack offers mouthwatering carribean roast pork sandwiches that will leave you licking those sticky fingers and wishing you ordered more. Don’t skip out on trying a bit of everything, including the grilled corn on the cob or a vegetarian bowl.

Tacos Chukis

Think traditional Southern California street tacos but in Seattle! These tacos are cheap, the service fast, and with four locations across town, you will be sure to find one close to a few other tourist attractions like the Space Needle and the vibrant Capitol Hill.

Biscuit Bitch

As a Southerner myself, I died and went to heaven when I tried Biscuit Bitch’s biscuit (bacon bitchwitch) and grits. It’s very unusual to find authentic grits outside of the South and these did not disappoint. The line here can be super long, so go early to beat the rush. Their mantra is “trailer park to table” and greet you with a “bitch what do you want?” Don’t be alarmed, it’s all part of the fun. Seattlelites really are the nicest people, I promise.

Biscuit & Bean

Cross the Ballard Bridge, and you’ll happen upon a small building with a line out the door. Yep, that’s Biscuit & Bean, a Ballard local’s favorite morning spot. Another breakfast sandwich place in Seattle that will make you question if this city is just made up of Southern transplants (that’s very possible). Don’t forget to try one of their signature coffees or teas, to die for.

El Camion

The portions are huge, the horchata is top notch. This mexican joint is as authentic as it comes and so so fresh. Anything on the menu is good, be sure to split with your travel companion so you can try more than one thing.
